CAIRO– Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the role played by the Egyptian community in Germany in strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting bilateral cooperation across multiple fields, according to statements released on Tuesday.
During a meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Berlin as part of his current visit, Abdelatty said regular engagement with Egyptians abroad is a core element of the foreign ministry’s approach, aimed at ensuring the highest level of care and providing comprehensive consular services.
He outlined his ministry’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and modernize consular operations, highlighting new initiatives launched in coordination with state institutions to ease procedures for Egyptians overseas and enhance service quality. These include an expansion of digital services, which he said reflects the state’s priority to safeguard the interests of its citizens abroad.
Abdelatty also briefed the community on key outcomes of the sixth “Egyptians Abroad” conference held in Cairo in August 2025. He stressed the importance of Egyptians in Germany—and worldwide—participating in national elections, calling it an essential democratic practice and a constitutional right that reinforces citizenship and national belonging.
The minister addressed the severe regional challenges facing the Middle East and reviewed Egypt’s efforts to protect its national security and stability. He underscored the need for unity between Egyptians at home and abroad to support national interests and back the country’s economy during the current period.
A wide-ranging discussion followed, during which Abdelatty listened to proposals and concerns from community members regarding the development of consular services in Germany. He affirmed the foreign ministry’s commitment to following up on all issues raised by Egyptian expatriates and meeting their needs.
