CAIRO – Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, and Head of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa el-Ghannam reiterated on Sunday the government’s commitment to safeguarding the national poultry industry, which attracts investments of around 200 billion Egyptian pounds and employs about 3.6 million workers, producing nearly 1.6 billion chickens and 16 billion eggs annually.
A number of investors and senior officials at the agriculture and supply ministers attended the talks aimed at stimulating national poultry industry to reduce bill of imports.
The meeting comes within the framework of the Egyptian state’s drive to boost local production, ensure sustainability, and shield the national economy from global market volatility.
They underscored the importance of regulating market prices in line with production costs while also safeguarding consumer interests, ensuring that poultry and eggs are made available at affordable prices for citizens, especially with the approach of the fasting month of Ramadan.
