CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted that Egypt took serious steps toward building an integrated national governance framework for artificial intelligence (AI).

These steps include establishing the National Council for Artificial Intelligence, adopting a multi-phase national AI strategy aimed at integrating AI into government services, strengthening public-private partnerships, supporting scientific research, preserving linguistic and cultural heritage and developing human capabilities, he said.

This came during the Abdelatty’s participation on Sunday in the 2nd edition of the AIDC2 ’25 Conference and Exhibition for Artificial Intelligence, Data Centers and Cloud Computing held this year under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference brings together leading experts, innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world, reflecting Egypt’s status as an advanced regional hub in the fields of artificial intelligence, data centers, and cloud computing.

It also embodies a comprehensive strategic vision aligned with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to prioritize enhancing digital infrastructure, expanding investments in the data sector and leveraging Egypt’s unique geographic location as a global crossroads for submarine communication cables.

In his speech at the opening session, Abdelatty highlighted the tremendous opportunities AI offers in supporting sustainable development, improving public services and driving innovation across essential sectors including health, education, agriculture and public administration, contributing to economic and social transformation that meets the aspirations of societies.

He reviewed the active role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in shaping the future of AI governance through strong participation in all international forums concerned with AI regulation.

He also stressed Egypt’s leadership on the Arab and African levels, having spearheaded the development of both the Unified Arab AI Strategy and the African Continental AI Strategy in addition to representing North Africa in the advisory group established by the AU Peace and Security Council to examine the impact of AI on continental security.

Abdelatty toured the pavilion of the Ministry of Education, where he received a detailed briefing on the ministry’s use of digital technologies to enhance educational services in Egyptian schools.

He also viewed the new mobile application “Madrasatak fe Masr”, set to be launched before the beginning of next year, designed to provide high-quality educational services for Egyptian students abroad, facilitate access to Egyptian curricula using modern technology and reinforce cultural and educational ties with their homeland.
