Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el-Wazir met with Indian Minister of Health, Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of industry and transport.

At the beginning of the meeting, the deputy prime minister said Egypt welcomes collaboration with India across various sectors.

Wazir said the Egyptian market is open to partnerships with companies from around the world, particularly Indian firms seeking to invest in promising industries targeted by the Ministry of Industry.

Egypt is ready to cooperate with India in ports, maritime transport and logistics zones, providing Indian partners with insights into investment opportunities in these areas, he added.

On industrial cooperation, he suggested establishing partnerships in Egypt for the production of phosphate fertilizers and industrial projects leveraging local raw materials, as well as projects in chemicals and petrochemicals, fields, in which Indian companies have extensive expertise.

According to the deputy premier, Egypt’s current strategy focuses on manufacturing products from locally available raw materials, adding value for domestic consumption or export, rather than exporting them in their raw form.

For his part, the Indian minister asserted his country’s keenness on strengthening economic ties with Egypt.

Nadda said his delegation includes companies specializing in phosphate fertilizers and pharmaceuticals, all interested in exploring investment opportunities in Egypt in the near future.

At the end of the meeting, both sides asserted their governments’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in the industrial and transport sectors, removing obstacles to joint projects and maintaining ongoing coordination between relevant ministries and agencies in both countries.
