CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s appreciation for pioneering role of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) as first international arbitration institution in the world.
During the minister’s meeting with Secretary-General of the PCA Marcin Czepelak, Abdelatty commended distinguished partnership and longstanding cooperation between Egypt and the PCA secretariat, along with the court’s various arbitration panels in which many Egyptian arbitrators have actively participated over the years.
He also underscored Egypt’s preparedness to provide all necessary support to the court, with a view to facilitating its mission in promoting peaceful settlement of international disputes and the resolution of investment-related conflicts, highlighting Egypt’s outstanding experience in international arbitration.
For his part, the PCA’s secretary general voiced deep appreciation for Egypt being a key regional country and a gateway to Africa, the Middle East and the Southern Mediterranean.
Czepelak said strengthening cooperation with Egypt is a top priority for the PCA, especially as it seeks to expand global reach, noting Egypt’s regional and international stature and its constructive role in mediation, arbitration and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
