In a remarkable first for Egypt and the region, the nation played host Saturday night to “The Grand Ball,” the prestigious royal gala traditionally held in Monaco, which made its dazzling debut at Egypt’s famed Abdeen Palace.
Organised by Noble Monte-Carlo and held under the patronage of Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, this extraordinary event brings timeless elegance to one of the world’s most storied royal residences.
Distinguished as one of the world’s most lavish and elite royal gatherings, The Grand Ball takes place each year under the high patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Renowned internationally as an “Ultra Luxury Royal Event,” the ball draws an illustrious guest list — including members of royal families, nobles, dignitaries, and influential leaders from across the globe.
This year, Egypt’s hosting of The Grand Ball serves as the crown jewel in the final days of the global “Hope Givers” campaign, now in its fifth edition.
The campaign runs November 7-9 in Cairo, under the auspices of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion. Earlier, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation held the campaign’s opening ceremonies, while the campaign is set to conclude with a grand concert at the New Administrative Capital’s Opera House on November 9.
Dignitaries of the highest order attended the ball, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Béatrice of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, His Highness Prince Joachim Murat, and official representatives of the Monaco princely palace. Joining them were senior government officials from France and Europe, together with esteemed personalities from Egypt and around the world.
Welcoming the event, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, expressed his deep pride in Egypt’s ability to host such a world-class royal celebration, saying it signals the international community’s confidence in Egypt to deliver sophisticated, culturally rich events.
“This event truly highlights Egypt’s unique blend of royal heritage and modern architectural achievements, reinforcing our role as a global stage for luxury cultural experiences,” said CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Ahmed Youssef.
“Hosting The Grand Ball is an opportunity to showcase Egypt as a top-tier destination, where history and contemporary innovation meet in unmatched elegance.”
Cairo International Airport’s tourism authority extended a warm welcome to arriving dignitaries, ensuring seamless hospitality and a memorable introduction to Egypt’s renowned professionalism and warmth.
As part of the “Hope Givers” campaign, on Friday also saw a special international ‘Masterclass’ at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation, in cooperation with leading global organisations such as the Better World Fund and Listen2Hearn, reflecting Egypt’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian and health causes.
First launched in Monaco in 1954 under the patronage of the late Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace Kelly, The Grand Ball remains one of Europe’s most distinguished and oldest royal galas. Its mission endures: to celebrate art, culture, and refined taste, while supporting global philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors.
