CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the participation of Queen Mary of Denmark in the historic opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
This came during his meeting on Saturday 1/11/2025 with Denmark’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
Abdelatty praised the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries, particularly highlighting President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Denmark last December, which elevated bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
He emphasized the importance of implementing the provisions of the partnership agreement, especially through ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as the launch of the Egyptian-Danish Business Council to further enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation between both nations.
Abdelatty also welcomed the existing cooperation in the field of migration, underlining the importance of strengthening its developmental dimension and expanding legal migration pathways for Egypt’s skilled and technical workforce.
He highlighted the need to follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of the Egypt-EU Summit held in Brussels on October 22, particularly those related to the economic event and reviewed Egypt’s investment incentives and opportunities available to European partners.
He expressed Egypt’s aspiration for the summit to broaden the horizons of the Egypt-EU strategic partnership and attract more European investments into the Egyptian market, emphasizing the importance of boosting bilateral trade volumes and increasing Egyptian exports to Denmark.
He commended the contribution of Danish companies to Egypt’s economic development, calling for expanded investments.
The minister also discussed preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the International Conference on Gaza Reconstruction later this month, expressing hope for strong European and Danish participation.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including maritime security in the Red Sea as well as the situations in Libya, Sudan, Syria, the Horn of Africa and the Sahel region in addition to Egypt’s water security.
