ASWAN, Upper Egypt – Abu Simbel Temple in southern Aswan marked the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) with a special promotional video.

The presentation coincided with foreign tourists attending the temple’s sound and light shows, creating a festive atmosphere that highlighted visitors’ enthusiasm for Egypt’s ancient heritage.

Director of Abu Simbel Antiquities Ahmed Massoud said the museum’s promotional content was displayed on the temple’s screens, which also showcase the solar alignment phenomenon at the statue of Pharaoh Ramses II in the Great Temple.

The initiative was organized in coordination with the Abu Simbel Antiquities Department, the Aswan governorate, and the local administration of Abu Simbel, which provided engineers and technicians to operate and install the screens.

Director of the General Administration of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Antiquities in Aswan Fahmy El-Amin said that the initiative aims to promote the GEM as one of the world’s most important cultural projects.

Seven presentations were shown at the temple, two in Arabic and five in English.

Amin added that the displays received widespread admiration from tourists, who praised the museum’s visual content and its unique experience blending history and modernity.

He further noted that such initiatives help support tourism and raise archaeological awareness among visitors from around the world.
