The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on the first of November marks a historic event and a new phase in the record of modern Egypt’s achievements. It stands as one of the most prominent national and civilisational projects adopted by the state under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to be a global edifice that Egypt offers as a gift to all humanity—embodying the greatness of the Egyptian civilisation.

Egypt, the cradle of the oldest civilisation known to human history—whose roots stretch back more than seven thousand years—possesses about one-third of the world’s antiquities scattered across its lands. This makes Egypt a global centre of human heritage and an endless source of inspiration for all peoples.

The Grand Egyptian Museum comes as a living translation of this deep-rooted heritage into a vibrant cultural reality. It is not merely a museum displaying artifacts, but an integrated cultural experience that tells the story of the Egyptian human being from the dawn of history to the present day. The museum houses thousands of rare pieces that reflect the genius of the ancient Egyptian and his creativity in all aspects of life.

Moreover, the appointment of Dr Khaled El-Enany as Director-General of UNESCO reflects the international community’s appreciation of Egypt’s historical and civilizational standing, and its pioneering role in preserving and protecting human heritage.

The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum will remain a landmark day in modern Egyptian history, a new cultural and tourism platform added to Egypt’s record of achievements—further enhancing its status as a global destination for culture, tourism, and civilisation.
