CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty Monday praised the ongoing coordination with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) during Egypt’s current presidency of the agency’s Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with AUDA-NEPAD CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas, on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

The top Egyptian diplomat commended the qualitative leap witnessed by the agency under her leadership, expressing Egypt’s aspiration for furthering fruitful cooperation with the agency.

Abdelatty underscored keenness to continue working with AUDA-NEPAD to implement files prioritized by Egypt during its presidency of the agency, particularly accelerating resource mobilization for the implementation of Agenda 2063, infrastructure projects, industrialization, as well as supporting the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with the agency’s secretariat for resource mobilization.

Abdelatty commended the launch of the “Africa Grows” initiative to mobilize $500 billion to finance nearly 300 development projects.
