CAIRO – Former minister of culture Farouq Hosny affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will serve as a beacon of knowledge, a hub for the arts, and a source of inspiration for future generations.

In statements to MENA on Friday, Hosny said that the GEM is not merely a monumental structure housing artifacts, but a national and humanitarian dream that originated from a small idea embedded in the national conscience.

He noted that when he first proposed the establishment of the museum, he envisioned a landmark worthy of Egypt’s millennia-old history, one that would serve as a gateway to its civilization.

Hosny described the GEM as a bridge between time and space, reconnecting Egyptians with their heritage and showcasing the enduring spirit of Egypt to the world.

He added that the museum is set to position Egypt as a global cultural destination, one where visitors engage not just with statues or relics, but with a profound intellectual and spiritual journey through history and legacy.
