Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met Thursday with Chairman of the Indian “Sun” Group Vikramjit Singh Sahney for talks on the production of fertilizers and fertilizer raw materials in the capital, New Delhi.
During the meeting, the foreign minister voiced Egypt’s keenness on strengthening trade and investment cooperation with India across all sectors, especially in the fields of food security and the production and export of phosphate and fertilizers.
Abdelatty noted that this cooperation would positively contribute to industrial integration between the two countries and pointed to the possibility of studying the conclusion of an agreement between the two states under which balanced deals could be made to exchange Indian wheat for Egyptian fertilizers.
He expressed Egypt’s welcome of attracting more Indian investments in the various industrial sectors, affirming that the Egyptian government aims to create a more competitive and attractive investment climate for both local and foreign investors.
The approach is based on transparency, clarity, providing supportive institutional and legislative frameworks, improving the business environment, simplifying procedures and removing obstacles facing investors as well as enhancing the role of the private sector as a key partner in development, added the minister.
