SHARM EL SHEIKH – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to promote relations with Germany to the level of strategic partnership.
Sisi made the remarks on Monday during his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Head of the General Intelligence Service Hassan Rashad, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy.
The spokesman added that the German chancellor thanked President Sisi for his efforts to reach a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, expressing Germany’s readiness to assist in the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.
On his part, President Sisi expressed deep appreciation for Germany and its people, affirming Egypt’s keenness to elevate Egyptian-German relations to the level of strategic partnership.
The president called on major German companies to enhance their presence in the Egyptian market, particularly in light of Egypt’s free trade agreements with Arab and African countries.
President Sisi highlighted Egypt’s balanced and constructive foreign policy, which seeks to avoid conflicts and achieve de-escalation.
In this regard, the president underscored the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between Egypt and Germany on issues of mutual concern, notably the crises in Syria, Sudan, and Libya, stressing the need to prevent further escalation.
The president also praised Germany’s readiness to participate in Gaza’s reconstruction efforts, stressing the need to consolidate the ceasefire, prevent the resumption of hostilities, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the greatest extent possible.
The spokesman noted that the president lauded Germany’s support for Egypt within the European Union, hoping for the success of the upcoming Egyptian-European Summit to be held in Brussels on October 22, 2025.
In the same context, President Sisi extended an official invitation to the German chancellor to visit Egypt — an invitation Merz warmly accepted.
The spokesman further stated that the German chancellor once again thanked President Sisi for inviting him to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, describing their meeting as the beginning of a new phase in deepening bilateral relations.
Merz affirmed that he would encourage German companies to boost their presence and investments in Egypt in areas of mutual concern.
