President meets US envoys Witkoff, Kushner

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received at Al-Ittihadia Presidential Palace the United States Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and, Trumps’s Senior Advisor Jared Kushner.

The US envoys are visiting Cairo as part of their role in advancing the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations. The meeting was attended by Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Major General Hassan Rashad and United States Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg.

At the outset of the meeting, President Sisi expressed his strong support for the progress achieved in the Gaza ceasefire talks and extended his appreciation for President Donald Trump for his steadfast efforts in this regard.

The president underscored Egypt’s commitment to seeing the agreement finalised and celebrated at the earliest opportunity, emphasising the urgent need to halt hostilities in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of its people.

The US envoys conveyed their deep appreciation for Egypt’s indispensable role in facilitating the negotiations, highlighting the strategic and enduring partnership between Cairo and Washington.

They affirmed that President Trump values President Sisi’s leadership in advancing regional peace and stability and cherishes the personal friendship that binds them, said the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy.

He added that President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to coordinating with the United States to implement the ceasefire agreement within the framework of President Trump’s vision for peace.

The president also reiterated Egypt’s historical and important role in the Middle East peace process, a partnership with the United States that has spanned decades since the 1970s, Spokesman el-Shennawy said.

President Sisi further commended the contributions of the United States, Qatari and Turkish mediators, in bolstering Egypt’s efforts during the recent negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh.

He stressed that ending the conflict and achieving lasting peace in Gaza is a shared responsibility — one that reflects the collective will of nations and peoples across the region and the international community.

President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s ongoing commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure the faithful implementation of the agreed terms, which include an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery, and the mutual release of hostages and detainees.

For their part, Witkoff and Kushner reiterated the United States’ recognition of Egypt’s central role in fostering a peaceful resolution to the conflict and restoring regional stability.

In closing, President Sisi voiced Egypt’s strong support for President Trump’s peace initiatives and expressed his hope to host the signing of the final agreement in Egypt — marking the occasion with a ceremony that reflects its historical significance and promise for a better future.
