Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli took part, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the opening session of the 24th Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) on Thursday in Nairobi.
The summit was attended by a number of heads of state and government from COMESA member countries, alongside a host of high-level guests and officials.
Egypt’s participation in this year’s COMESA summit reflects the keenness of the Egyptian leadership to support the efforts of COMESA member states in achieving economic integration that meets the aspirations of the region’s peoples for development, progress and prosperity.
COMESA aims to boost intra-regional trade, enhance joint investment opportunities and strengthen the role of the private sector in driving economic growth.
The member states are taking significant steps toward deepening economic ties and promoting regional cooperation and integration across Africa’s various economic blocs.
Egypt continues to work on strengthening its trade relations with African nations, leveraging its active membership in key regional and continental economic organizations, foremost among them, COMESA.
