Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady alongside his wife and Dr Rania Yahya, Director of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, officially inaugurated the Academy’s new cultural and artistic season.
The prestigious event welcomed a distinguished audience, including members of the Italian Parliament, prominent officials, artists, journalists, and a diverse group of intellectuals and art lovers from Italy and abroad.

The opening ceremony featured a captivating solo exhibition by acclaimed Egyptian artist Amr Fahmy. The collection showcased portraits of influential Egyptian, Italian, and international figures, as well as new works inspired by Rome’s historical and tourist landmarks.
These pieces were created during his recent two-week residency at the Academy.
A highlight of the exhibition was a special painting by the legendary Egyptian artist Ragheb Ayad, founder of the Academy.
Fahmy presented this work to the institution as a tribute to its foundational and pioneering role in cultural diplomacy.

In her opening remarks, Yahya expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Rady for his continuous support and for inaugurating the new season for the second consecutive year. She also extended her thanks to the participating artists and the dedicated staff of the Academy, recognizing their collective efforts in making the institution a revered showcase for Egyptian culture.

Ambassador Rady delivered a keynote speech, praising the Academy’s vital role in reinforcing Egypt’s cultural presence in Italy and across Europe.
He described the institution as a “beacon that reflects the rays of Egypt’s ancient identity from Rome, the capital of art and culture, to all of Italy.”
The Ambassador commended Yahya and her team for their tireless work and officially announced the launch of the new season. He emphasized that the diverse artistic activities planned will serve as a new added value, highlighting the power of Egypt’s soft power through creative arts and culture.
