Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny praised the active role of the Dominican Republic in various fields of civil aviation, affirming the Ministry’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries in this sector.
El-Hefny pointed out that the co-operation with the Dominican Republic represents a bridge to foster regional and international partnerships, supports joint positions in the international arena, and contributes to the exchange of expertise in training and qualification.
This came during a meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters between el-Hefny and Maldonado Román Acede, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Cairo.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of el-Hefny’s participation in the 13th Meeting of Directors of Civil Aviation of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (NACC/DCA/13), recently hosted by the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in civil aviation, reviewed the common positions of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC) on relevant issues, and stressed the importance of exchanging technical and operational expertise while intensifying coordination to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
For her part, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic praised the participation of Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation in the recent meeting hosted by her country, emphasising that such participation reflected Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting regional co-operation in civil aviation.
She also expressed her country’s aspiration to deepen coordination and co-operation with Egypt in this field, extending an official invitation to the Minister to participate in ICAN 2025, the annual international conference organized under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which will be hosted by the Dominican Republic in November this year.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and follow up on the agreed practical mechanisms to expand co-operation in the coming period, thereby strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating their international standing in the field of civil aviation.
