The 30th humanitarian aid convoy under initiative “Zad Al-Ezzah… From Egypt to Gaza” departed from the Egyptian side of Rafah border terminal on Thursday towards the Karm Abu Salem border crossing, southeast of the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Red Crescent said the convoy includes trucks carrying 2,750 tons of emergency aid supplies, including 2,400 tons of food baskets and flour, along with 300 tons of medical supplies, and other essential humanitarian aid materials.
Several aid trucks were forced to return to Rafah without unloading their cargo after being rejected by the Israeli side at Karm Abu Salem crossing, according to Extra News channel.
Meanwhile, dozens of trucks remain lined up, waiting for clearance to pass into Karm Abu Salem crossing, highlighting the ongoing obstacles facing humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, the channel added.
Launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27, the initiative has delivered thousands of tons of aid to Gaza, including essential supplies and fuel.
Israel has kept Gaza’s crossings closed since March 2, following the collapse of a temporary truce. It resumed airstrikes on March 18 and re-entered areas previously vacated.
Humanitarian access has been severely restricted, with only limited aid allowed in since May under an Israeli mechanism criticized by UN agencies and NGOs for bypassing established international protocols.
