Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir departed Cairo International Airport Monday heading to China as an envoy of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to participate in China’s celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance. The event will be attended by numerous heads of state and delegations from around the world.
The Ministry of Transport said in a press release that Egypt’s participation in these celebrations comes within the framework of the strong Egyptian-Chinese relations, which reached the level of a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” in 2014, in addition to the signing of the executive program of the strategic partnership between the two friendly states for the years 2024–2028, in January 2024. This program represented a roadmap to further develop bilateral relations and elevate them to a higher level, building on the tangible achievements made over the past years.
In this context, the minister stressed that China is a strategic partner for Egypt, expressing Egypt’s keenness to further develop relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly in the economic domain. He said that China is Egypt’s top trading partner, and voiced his aspiration to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Egypt.
The minister’s visit itinerary to China includes a number of important meetings with heads and representatives of major Chinese companies, aimed at discussing current and future cooperation with Chinese firms in Egypt, and working to attract more Chinese investments across various sectors into the Egyptian market.
