Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli extended an invitation to Chinese companies to invest in Egypt’s electric vehicle industry, given that China is the largest producer of electric cars.

He encouraged investment and the establishment of such factories in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

He also expressed his desire for cooperation between the two sides in the fields of water desalination, and the production of components for solar and wind energy projects.

The prime minister’s remarks came at a meeting with Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee and Secretary of the Party’s Central Secretariat Saturday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the prime minister’s participation – on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi – in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, held in Tianjin, China.

Madbouli thanked the Chinese government for inviting Egypt to participate in the summit and expressed appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to the Egyptian delegation.

He affirmed Egypt’s keenness to participate in the summit, which comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries and reflects the directives of the political leadership in both nations to strengthen and enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields.

Madbouli also discussed developments in the Gaza Strip, expressing hope for an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people and for a ceasefire to be reached.

Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for China’s unity, the One-China policy, and its sovereignty over its territories.

He noted that China is Egypt’s largest trading partner in terms of trade volume and expressed his aspiration to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Egypt.

He highlighted the prominent role of many Chinese companies in implementing Egypt’s major development projects over the past years, especially in construction, transport, industry, and other vital sectors.

For his part, the Chinese official welcomed Madbouli and expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s participation in the SCO summit.

He highlighted the progress made in bilateral relations under the leadership of both countries and the drive to elevate those relations to broader horizons.

Regarding developments in Gaza, the Chinese official expressed hope for a ceasefire and efforts to deliver more humanitarian aid.

He also voiced support for Egypt’s efforts to host the conference on early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, wishing for greater stability and security in the region.
