YOKOHAMA – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli announced Egypt’s intention to host the fifth edition of the “Aswan Forum” in October.
The event will discuss major African issues within the framework of the interlinkage between peace, security, and development, while expressing hope to continue and intensify existing vistas of cooperation with the Japanese side in this regard, he added while delivering Egypt’s address at the Peace and Stability Session of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in Yokohama, Japan Wednesday.
The conference is attended by numerous kings, presidents, and leaders of states.
Madbouli is attending the gathering on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He began his speech by conveying President Sisi’s greetings to the government and people of Japan, expressing Egypt’s deep appreciation for Japan’s sincere partnership with the African continent and its commitment to supporting the continent in the areas of peace, security, and development.
He also commended the wise leadership of Angola in presiding over the African Union.
The prime minister highlighted the increasing challenges facing the continent.
He further noted that Africa has made tremendous efforts to establish peace in Sudan, eastern DRC, the Sahel region, and Somalia.
In conclusion, Madbouli highlighted the Palestinian cause, which has always been a top priority for Egypt and the African Union,
He stressed the time has come not only to condemn the Israeli aggression and its systematic policy of genocide and elimination of the Palestinian cause, but also to take swift and decisive action to deter it, including recognizing the State of Palestine as a means of protecting the Palestinian people and their rights.
