AMMAN – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has affirmed the shared destiny of Egypt and Jordan and the similarity of challenges faced by both countries. 

He also emphasized the importance of revitalizing cooperation with Iraq through the trilateral cooperation mechanism among Egypt, Jordan and Iraq. 

The prime minister confirmed Egypt’s support for the efforts made by the Jordanian political leadership to maintain security and stability in the country.

Madbouli made the remarks during an extended session of talks he co-chaired with Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan as part of the 33rd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Committee. 

The two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing bilateral cooperation across various economic fields and exchanged views on political issues of common interest.

The meeting was also attended by a number of Jordanian ministers and officials.

During a speech he delivered at the meeting, Madbouli underscored the deep bilateral ties between the two countries’ political leaderships and peoples.

The prime minister highlighted continued efforts for co-operation and coordination between the political leaderships in Cairo and Amman, especially as regards confronting the challenges engulfing the Palestinian cause. 

In this regard, he pointed out to coordination among Egypt, Qatar and the United States to hammer out a ceasefire agreement.

He also highlighted efforts aimed at organizing a conference on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza once such an agreement is reached.

On strengthening Egypt-Jordan co-operation, Madbouli said Cairo is keen to foster collaboration with Amman in several key sectors, including electrical interconnection, which he said could benefit multiple countries in the region. 

On that score, he emphasised Egypt’s readiness to support joint investments.He also praised the volume of Jordanian investments in Egypt.
