CAIRO – Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah el-Din Moustafa on Sunday discussed with Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Iwai Fumio means of enhancing co-operation in various manufacturing domains.
This came during a meeting between Salah el-Din and the Japanese ambassador and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Military Production Ministry in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Sunday.
During the meeting, Salah el-Din emphasised the Military Production Ministry’s keenness to strengthen industrial and technological co-operation with Japan and localise modern manufacturing technologies in the ministry’s affiliated companies.
This will be achieved through co-operation with various global companies, particularly in light of current global changes that necessitate reliance on local capabilities, the minister of state said.
The meeting falls within the framework of presidential directives to benefit from global expertise and localize it in various manufacturing operations, thereby supporting sustainable development strategies by relying on local manufacturing capabilities implemented by Egyptian hands.
He asserted that the ministry’s companies and units boast high-level manufacturing, technological and technical capabilities.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed his country’s keenness to support and strengthen this partnership as part of the strong Egypt–Japan relations.
Iwai said that he is looking forward to achieving more successes in implementing joint projects that meet the aspirations of both sides.
He praised the role of the Ministry of Military Production as a key pillar of Egypt’s military manufacturing sector and one of the state’s most important industrial arms, making use of surplus production capacity in its affiliated companies for civilian production, including for export.
The Japanese ambassador stressed commitment to maintaining constant coordination between the ministry and the embassy to support bilateral economic and trade relations, work to overcome challenges and enhance co-operation between companies of both sides.
Iwai highlighted the recent development of economic relations between the two countries and the deep and friendly ties between the Egyptian and Japanese peoples, which provide a strong impetus to attract more Japanese investments.
He said that he would urge Japanese investors and businessmen to take advantage of the capacities available in the ministry’s companies and units to achieve further joint successes.
