Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Minister of Labor Mohamed Gobran accompanied by Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafy visited survivors of the barge that sank late Tuesday in the Gulf of Suez
According to an official statement Wednesday, the ministers extended deepest condolences to the families of the victims, who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
During their hospital visit, they offered support to the injured, affirming the government’s full commitment to providing every possible means of care and assistance until their full recovery.
The ministers also checked with the medical teams to ensure that comprehensive medical care was being provided to the injured, stressing the importance of following-up until the patients fully recover, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
Both ministers also visited the accident site to oversee ongoing rescue efforts on the ground.
The offshore accident involved the Adam Marine 12 drillship near Gebel El-Zeit in the Gulf of Suez.
Survivors are currently receiving medical care at El Gouna Hospital.
Following the mishap, the Ministry of Petroleum promptly activated its emergency plan. Rescue teams from the petroleum sector in the Gulf of Suez were immediately dispatched.
