The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) announced that the second edition of the Arab Youth Media Creativity Summit will take place next August in New Alamein City.
Under the theme “Innovative Media… and Pioneering Work,” the summit aims to equip young media professionals to navigate the evolving global media landscape, with a significant focus on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).
President of AASTMT Dr Ismail Abdel Ghaffar made the announcement at a press conference held at the academy’s Alexandria headquarters.
The event saw the participation of prominent media figures, thinkers, and creative young media professionals from across the Arab world.
Abdel Ghaffar expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the summit in New Alamein City, highlighting it as a symbol of development and innovation in Egypt.
He emphasised that this year’s summit will build on the “great success” of its inaugural edition, aiming to be even more ambitious and innovative.
A key objective is to provide comprehensive support to future generations of Arab media professionals, helping them confront industry challenges, particularly the rapid technological advancements like AI that are transforming media production and content creation.

“The summit comes at a critical time as technological developments are accelerating and significantly impacting the way media content is produced and distributed,” Abdel Ghaffarstated.
He underscored the necessity of embracing these changes and maximising the use of modern digital tools.
The summit will offer Arab youth the opportunity to engage with the latest AI technologies, which he described as “an indispensable tool in all stages of the media industry.”
Discussions and workshops will primarily explore how AI can be utilised for data analysis and the creation of interactive media content, aiming to “enhance the effectiveness of Arab media in line with future challenges.”
Abdel Ghaffar added that the summit seeks to empower young media professionals to become pioneers in digital media, capable of interacting with future developments and using media as a “vital tool for achieving positive change” in Arab societies.
He also highlighted that contemporary media demands “creative thinking and the ability to engage with a diverse and interactive audience in a digital environment,” skills the summit aims to enhance.
In a related announcement, Abdel Ghaffar proudly shared that AASTMT has been ranked first in Egypt, eighth in the Arab world, and 104th globally among over 2,000 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, calling it a “great achievement.”
He concluded by extending gratitude to the League of Arab States and the Egyptian Cabinet for their continued support, as well as to the partners, sponsors, and the organising team, notably Assist Communications.
Head of the Media Syndicate Dr Tarek Saada delivered a powerful message to Arab youth during the press conference, urging them to recognize their “strength and potential” when armed with science and technology.
He stressed that “real power today stems from knowledge and technological development in a highly competitive and evolving world,” asserting that media has evolved into a sophisticated tool reliant on modern digital advancements.
“Media transmission methods have evolved significantly, and they require young people who possess the tools of the era: knowledge, creativity, and technology,” Saada remarked.
He encouraged youth to become active participants in the technology industry, not just users, by contributing innovative ideas that serve media content transmission.
He also highlighted the instantaneous nature of modern media and the intense global competition.
Minister Plenipotentiary Raed Al-Gabouri, Director of the Department of Arab Organizations and Federations at the League of Arab States, commended AASTMT’s significant role in fostering innovation and advancing the media and education sectors across the Arab world. He lauded the “outstanding positive results” of the first summit and its recommendations for developing innovative media content reflecting Arab issues.

Al-Gabouri highlighted that the previous summit yielded “important recommendations that support innovation and good citizenship and contribute to motivating Arab youth to use media as a tool for positive societal change.”
He underscored the critical timing of these events, as Arab media confronts significant challenges, and stressed the importance of collective effort to “support innovation and enhance the role of media in confronting these challenges through effective strategies.”
Emphasising the summit’s role in providing a platform for young people to showcase their creative ideas and contribute to media reflecting new generations’ aspirations, Al-Gabouri concluded by affirming the League of Arab States’ belief that “Arab youth are the driving force behind the region’s future, and we will continue to support these initiatives that enhance their capabilities and enable them to build a bright future for our Arab nation.”
