ROME – Egyptian Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk discussed on Sunday with Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Luis Planas ways of enhancing cooperation in the agricultural domain as part of efforts to bolster cooperation with the EU countries and increase Egypt’s agricultural exports.
The talks took place on the sidelines of the 6th AU-EU Agriculture and Food Security Ministerial Conference, currently being held at the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) headquarters in Rome.
The two ministers discussed key areas for cooperation, including water management, efficient irrigation practices, and the adoption of modern field irrigation systems.
Farouk underlined the importance of cooperating with the Spanish side on smart agriculture using advanced technologies, as well as exchanging expertise in agricultural value chains and promoting investment in the sector.
The Spanish side lauded the high-quality of Egyptian products and their strong reputation in global markets.
Planas invited Farouk to visit Spain, especially with a major agricultural exhibition set to take place in Madrid later this year.
