South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda received on Monday Australian Ambassador to Egypt Mr Glenn Miles to discuss means for activating the tourism movement from Australia to Sharm el-Sheiekh and other coastal cities in South Sinai.
Mr Miles expressed his happiness for meeting the governor, noting that Sharm el-Sheikh is one of the world’s most important tourist destinations. He also expressed his aspiration to co-operate with South Sinai Governorate in increasing the number of Australians visiting South Sinai cities, specifically Sharm el-Sheikh.
Mr Miles lauded the efforts done by the state for developing the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. He congratulated South Sinai governor for the success of the world Youth Forum (WYF) held recently in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, defying the global challenges caused by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The wide participation from different world countries in the WYF sends a message to the whole world that Egypt is an oasis of safety and security in the region,” Mr Miles said.
The ambassador also expressed his trust for the success of the COP27 summit that Egypt will host in Sharm el-Sheikh by the end of this year.
At the end of the meeting, South Sinai governor granted Mr Miles the Governorate’s Shield in honour of him.
