CAIRO/MUSCAT – Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit discussed on Monday with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi conditions in the Arab world and important issues in the region.
A reliable source at the pan-Arab organisation said the two sides exchanged viewpoints on international issues and Arab crises and means to overcome them.
Abul Gheit, who visiting Oman now, appreciated the ‘balanced diplomacy’ of the Sultanate of Oman and the important role Muscat is playing as regards regional files.
According to the source, Abul Gheit discussed with the Omani foreign minister issues related to the coming Arab summit as well as the crises in Libya, Syria and Yemen in light of recent developments in the three Arab countries and across the region.
The Arab League chief is due to give a lecture Tuesday at the National Defense College in Oman themed “international and regional variables and their impact on joint Arab action”.
He will head for Saudi Arabia from Muscat to preside over a meeting of the higher committee of the joint Arab action which kicks off Wednesday.
The committee holds its biannual meeting to follow up the goals and mechanisms of the Arab League work system.
