Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber received on Monday a high-level delegation from China’s Shaanxi Province, led by Hao Huijie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Shaanxi to discuss ways to deepen local co-operation between Cairo and the Chinese province across several key sectors.

The two sides explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, culture, education, energy, and environmental sustainability.

Governor Saber praised the historical ties between Egypt and China, noting that both nations share ancient civilisations and a long-standing partnership that continues to grow stronger through close presidential-level relations between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“This visit marks another important step in reinforcing local co-operation between Cairo and Shaanxi,” he said.

Cairo already maintains twinning and co-operation agreements with multiple Chinese cities aimed at knowledge exchange and collaborative development, he added.

The meeting featured a presentation on Cairo’s progress in sustainable development, infrastructure upgrades, and its role as a cultural, touristic, and economic hub.

Saber called for the organisation of joint cultural events to showcase the heritage of both cities and strengthen people-to-people connections.

For his part, Hao Huijie emphasised the strategic depth of China-Egypt relations, which continue to grow across political, economic, and cultural dimensions.

He noted that Shaanxi Province is rich in cultural and tourism resources and looks forward to expanded co-operation with Cairo.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to activating the twinning agreement signed between Cairo and Shaanxi in 2008, aimed at boosting bonds between their respective populations and fostering mutual development.
