CAIRO – The stage is set for the 2025 Egyptian Super Cup following Ceramica Cleopatra’s triumph in the Egypt Capital Cup, sealing their place in the four-team showdown.
Ceramica clinched the Cairo-based competition with a 2-0 win over NBE Club in the final, booking their spot as the Capital Cup champions. They join Al-Ahly, the reigning Egyptian Premier League titleholders; Zamalek, the Egyptian Cup winners; and Pyramids FC, who will be awarded the golden card.

The revamped Egyptian Super Cup format—introduced by the Football Association two seasons ago—features four clubs instead of the traditional two. The slots go to the league champions, cup winners, Capital Cup winners, and one team selected via the “golden card” system.
This year, the golden card will be granted to Pyramids FC, who finished runners-up in both the league and the cup and capped their season with continental glory by lifting the CAF Champions League trophy.
Last year’s edition, staged in the UAE, saw Zamalek held the golden card while Al-Ahly emerged victorious after edging their Cairo rivals in a dramatic penalty shootout.

While the exact date of the 2025 edition is yet to be confirmed, the competition is expected to be held in early August, prior to the new season’s kickoff. The UAE is once again the likely host.
According to recent reports, Al-Ahly will face Ceramica Cleopatra in one semi-final, while Zamalek will go head-to-head with Pyramids FC in the other. The winners will advance to the final for a shot at silverware.
Ceramica’s stock soars
Ceramica Cleopatra is fast becoming a fixture among Egypt’s football elite, securing a third successive appearance in the Egyptian Super Cup—a testament to their rapid ascent in the domestic game.

Their latest triumph in the Egypt Capital Cup, their third title in four editions, further solidifies their dominance in the emerging competition. In the final of the tournament’s fourth edition at Cairo’s Al-Salam Stadium, Ceramica delivered a commanding 2-0 victory over NBE Club.
The breakthrough came in the 40th minute courtesy of a moment of brilliance from midfield maestro Mohamed Reda. Picking up the ball deep in his own half, Reda slalomed past two defenders with dazzling footwork before curling a pinpoint strike into the bottom-right corner—leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

NBE Club sought a second-half resurgence, but Ceramica’s tactical discipline held firm. Absorbing pressure with composure, they waited patiently before striking again. South African forward Fakhri Lakay sealed the result in the 80th minute, slotting home clinically to extinguish any hopes of a comeback.
The victory not only extended Ceramica’s remarkable run in the Egypt Capital Cup but also came with a hefty reward—EGP 10 million in prize money. Runners-up NBE Club earned EGP 4 million, while Ismaily claimed third place and EGP 2 million after overcoming Enppi, who finished fourth and took home EGP 1.5 million.

Ceramica’s growing pedigree is clear: back-to-back final wins over Al-Masry, Talae El-Geish, and now NBE Club have made them the undisputed force of the competition. While Modern Sport lifted the inaugural title, it’s Ceramica who have stamped their authority in the years since—proving they are here to stay among Egypt’s footballing heavyweights.
Ismaily takes third
Ismaily rounded off their 2025 Egypt Capital Cup campaign on a high note, clinching third place with a composed 2-0 victory over Enppi in the tournament’s playoff for third position, also played at Al-Salam Stadium.

The first-half was a tense and tactical affair, with both teams struggling to find rhythm or penetration in the final third.
Although possession was evenly split, clear-cut chances were few and far between, and the sides headed into the break locked in a goalless stalemate.
After the interval, Ismaily began to assert themselves, showing greater urgency and cohesion in attack.
Their breakthrough came in in the 73rd minute via a clinical strike from central midfielder Mohamed Abdelsamia, beating the goalkeeper at full stretch.

With Enppi pushing forward in search of an equalizer, gaps began to appear at the back—and Ismaily made them pay deep into stoppage time. Left-winger Nader Farag broke free on the counter and slotted home in the 95th minute to double his side’s lead and put the result beyond doubt.
