The General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) said on Wednesday that Sokhna Port received the largest dry bulk ship since its establishment, the “Berge Kuju,” coming from Brazil.

The ship arrived at the port’s quay carrying a cargo estimated at 180,008 tonnes of iron ore (iron billet) for Ezz Steel.

Flying the Isle of Man flag, the “Berge Kuju” is 300 meters long, 50 meters wide, and has a draft of 16.4 meters, with a total tonnage of 206,176 tons.

The SCZone continues to strengthen its position as a premier regional logistics hub on both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. The arrival of this giant ship, carrying a massive shipment of iron ore, underscores the SCZone’s commitment to upgrading its ports and ensuring their readiness to accommodate diverse vessels.

This significant event at Sokhna Port is a testament to its efficient infrastructure and operational capabilities. It highlights the port’s crucial role in facilitating trade and supporting industry, both within Egypt and internationally. With ongoing development and modernization efforts across all SCZone ports, this arrival further solidifies its regional and international competitiveness.
