Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat discussed with Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides.
That came during bilateral talks, which were held Wednesday on the sidelines of OECD Ministerial Council Meetings in the French capital Paris, taking place this year under the theme “Charting the course towards resilient, inclusive, and sustainable prosperity through rules-based trade, investment, and innovation.”
Mashat expressed deep appreciation for the strong and evolving relationship with the OECD, whether through the cooperation program between Egypt and the organization, or through the MENA-OECD Initiative on Governance and Competitiveness for Development.
She pointed out that Egypt currently holds the co-chairmanship of the MENA-OECD initiative, a mandate that presents a unique opportunity for active participation in regional dialogue, enhancement of mutual learning mechanisms, and exchange of practical, reform-driven experiences.
Cormann highlighted the organization’s open policy towards welcoming new member countries.
He noted that the Country Program with Egypt represents an important step towards its accession as the first Arab and African country to join the OECD.
