Sisi, Sanchez reject attempts to displace Palestinians

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

The two leaders affirmed their keenness to capitalise on the momentum bilateral relations have gained, which culminated in President Sisi’s visit to Madrid in February 2025. The visit was aimed at exploring broader prospects for co-operation in various fields, particularly economic, trade, and investment sectors, in line with the interests of the two friendly peoples, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy said.

The phone conversation touched on the situation in the Palestinian territories, as President Sisi and the Spanish prime minister unequivocally rejected the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza and the attempts to displace Palestinians from their land.

They also stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid, the presidency spokesman added.

President Sisi and Prime Minister Sánchez also reiterated the importance of enabling the implementation of the two-state solution by expanding global recognition of the Palestinian state, while mobilising support for the execution of the Arab-Islamic plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing its people, Spokesman Shennawy noted.
Meanwhile, the two sides discussed the situation in Syria, Lebanon, and Libya.

President Sisi and Premier Sánchez reaffirmed the necessity of preserving the unity of the three countries, their territorial integrity, and the security of their peoples. They also confirmed the continuation of consultations and coordination between Cairo and Madrid on various regional issues, in light of the important role played by both countries in restoring regional stability.
