CAIRO – The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has hosted the second edition of “GEM Talk” series under the title “From Past to Present: A Conversation on Design and Heritage”.
This comes as part of GEM’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between heritage and contemporary creativity.
The event brought together the world-renowned jewelry designer Azza Fahmy, the founder of a jewelry house named after her, as well as the house’s lead designer, Amina Ghali, for a distinguished artistic dialogue with archaeologist Dr. Yasmin El Shazly.
The discussion focused on the intertwined relationship between design, visual storytelling, and heritage in the house of jewelry, which draws inspiration from the aesthetics of ancient Egyptian civilization.
It also reviewed modern artistic collaboration, which highlights the continuity of symbols and historical shapes inspired by ancient Egyptian civilization in contemporary creativity.
