EgyptAir Cargo has successfully renewed the IATA CEIV Pharma certification, confirming its compliance with the highest international standards for the transport of time- and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments.
Capt. Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, said the renewal reinforces client confidence in the company’s ability to handle pharmaceutical and healthcare products efficiently—across both cargo aircraft and the holds of passenger flights. He praised the dedication of the cargo staff, highlighting their commitment to global safety and quality standards, and noted that such international certifications significantly enhance EgyptAir Cargo’s competitiveness and market reach.

Capt. Ehab El-Tohtawi, Chairman of EgyptAir Cargo, explained that the renewal followed a comprehensive audit of the procedures at the Cairo and Borg El Arab cargo terminals. He stressed that the pharmaceutical shipping process is meticulously handled from booking to final delivery, with thorough assessments covering staff training, equipment readiness, routine maintenance, storage reliability, and the effectiveness of refrigeration systems—including temperature consistency and early warning mechanisms for any deviations.
The audit also reviewed the handling of refrigerated containers, readiness of partner stations, and risk assessments to ensure contingency plans are in place for emergencies.
This milestone is a key step toward EgyptAir Cargo obtaining further IATA certifications, including CEIV Lithium Batteries for lithium battery shipments, CEIV Fresh for perishable goods like fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and CEIV Live Animals for the transport of live animals.
