Cairo stands firm against compromising Palestinian rights
Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) categorically dismissed in a statement on Friday reports suggesting Egypt would temporarily house half a million Gazan residents in North Sinai for reconstruction purposes. In a firm statement released on Friday, the SIS labeled these claims as “completely false,” asserting they contradict Egypt’s consistent stance.
The SIS has asserted that such reports are groundless allegations, which fundamentally and entirely contradict Egypt’s firm stance that had been declared since the first days of the war of extermination on Gaza in October 2023.
The SIS declared Cairo’s absolute rejection of any forced or voluntary displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, particularly towards Egypt, citing that such actionswould constitute the elimination of the Palestinian cause and pose a direct threat to Egypt’s national security.
The agency underscored Egypt’s opposition to any projects or proposals that seek to alter Gaza’s demographic makeup or compromise Palestinian rights. It stressed that Egypt’s commitment to Palestinian welfare is unwavering, and its actions are aimed at providing immediate relief, not facilitating population shifts.
The SIS concluded, stressing that Egypt’s firm position against displacement was the foundation of its unanimously approved Gaza reconstruction plan, presented at the Cairo Arab League summit earlier this month.
