Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati met with Hanna Tetteh, the newly appointed Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, Minister Abdel-Aati congratulated Tetteh on assuming her new role, noting that Egypt looks forward to co-operating with her to ensure the success of her mission.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at reaching a sustainable, Libya-led resolution to the crisis, in line with international resolutions and guidelines.

The spokesman added that Minister Abdel-Aati stressed that Egypt will continue its effort to help Libyan parties reach consensus and promote Libyan-Libyan solution and respect state institutions.

He stressed the importance of holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

Abdel-Aati reiterated the necessity for all foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries to leave Libya within a specified time frame to preserve the country’s unity, security, and stability.
