President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the efforts to ensure the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, facilitate the release of hostages and detainees, and deliver humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
They also reviewed the plans to urgently start reconstruction efforts in Gaza and help restore stability and improve conditions for its people.
In this respect, President Sisi stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to support the two-state solution, which is key to restoring regional stability.
These statements were made during a phone call President Sisi received yesterday from his French counterpart, the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy said.
The call also focused on recent regional developments, where the two presidents stressed the importance of maintaining consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest, he said.
He noted that the conversation further underscored the strong ties between the two nations and their mutual commitment to enhancing co-operation across various sectors to meet the aspirations of both peoples.
The situation in Syria was also addressed during the talks, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Regarding Lebanon, the two presidents voiced support for the Lebanese presidency and government, emphasising the importance of strengthening the ceasefire agreement to restore stability and secure the aspirations of the Lebanese people for peace and prosperity.
For his part, President Macron expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian efforts, acknowledging Egypt’s pivotal role in achieving regional stability. He also stressed France’s support for Egypt’s initiatives.
