Sisi meets visiting Kuwaiti First Deputy PM
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening co-operation with Kuwait across various sectors, particularly in economic, investment, security, and defense fields.
President Sisi reaffirmation came during his meeting on Monday with Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and the Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah,.
Attending the meeting were Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, Lieutenant General Abdul Maguid Saqr, Minister of the Interior, Maj Gen Mahmoud Tawfik, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Cairo, Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanim, and the Head of Kuwait’s State Security Service, Major General Khaled Abdul Hadi Al-Shanfa.
During the meeting, Sheikh Fahd conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stressed that his country profoundly cherishes the historic and strong fraternal ties with Egypt, the Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy, said.
He added that President Sisi, in turn, expressed appreciation for Emir Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and underscored the strategic nature of Egypt-Kuwait relations.
Regional developments, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip, the ceasefire agreement, and the delivery of humanitarian aid were considered during the meeting.
Sheikh Fahd praised, in this respect, Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to mediate a cease-fire and its ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the region.
President Sisi, in turn, acknowledged Kuwait’s steadfast stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its leading role in humanitarian efforts. In this context, President Sisi emphasised the need to intensify joint efforts to ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza and to consolidate the ceasefire in order to guarantee full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, thereby leading to the restoration of regional stability and establishing a political pathway towards the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Presidency spokesman said.
