During his participation in the World Economic Forum “Davos 2025”, on behalf of His President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Prime Minister, Dr Mostafa Madbouly, met with Mr. José Enterrías, the Chief Financial Officer of the Spanish company “Acciona Energia”.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Ambassador Mohamed Nagm, Egypt’s Ambassador to Switzerland. At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed Egypt’s eagerness to collaborate with the company, which is the largest producer of green energy with a capacity of 15 gigawatts, as well as its presence in 52 countries around the world. He praised the company’s capabilities in the field of desalination and reiterated his desire to work with the company in this area given Egypt’s water needs.

Mostafa Madbouly clarified that Egypt looks forward to cooperating with the company in water desalination while emphasising the need to overcome cost barriers in order to expand such projects. He confirmed that the government is also interested in collaborating with the company on renewable energy projects, especially with its existing projects in the Egyptian market within this important sector, noting the government’s commitment to increasing the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.

During the meeting, Mr. José Enterrías praised the Egyptian government’s efforts in economic reform and the indicators that suggest a bright future for the Egyptian economy. He expressed his hope to collaborate with Egypt on numerous projects that represent priorities for the Egyptian economy, particularly in the field of new and renewable energy.

For his part, Engineer Hassan El-Khatib explained that the Egyptian government is keen to increase the share of new and renewable energy in the energy mix, which drives the government to focus on localising the production of supplies and components for new and renewable energy.
