CAIRO – Chairman of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamaleddin discussed with a US delegation cooperation in the industrial and commercial domains.
The delegation groups US Minister Plenipotentiary for Commercial Affairs Scott Bozell, Deputy Director of USAID’s Economic Growth Office Harry Kriz, as well as number of officials at the US embassy in Cairo.
In a statement, the authority said that the authority’s chief posted the US delegation on the capabilities of the Suez Canal Economic Zone that includes four industrial zones and six seaports overlooking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
He further noted that the Egyptian state’s vision is to maximize the use of the region’s potentials via equipping it with a world-class infrastructure, in addition to the strategy of integration between ports and industrial and logistical areas, with the view to supporting supply chains and the movement of trade and industry.
He added this contributes to turn the SCZONE into a hub for fuel industries, citing the strategic location and the seaports’ readiness, which enabled them to provide ship bunkering services with fossil and green fuels.
Gamaleddin said that the targeted industrial and service sectors are 21, including the food, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries.
He also underlined the diversity of incentives in the SCZONE through direct and indirect financial incentives, and exemptions applied for exported goods.
The delegation visited the Sokhna Industrial Zone, Sokhna Port, the ECOBAT factory for manufacturing gypsum boards, the Siemens Training Center, the Siraj Lighting factory, Atco Pharma, Egypt Green Hydrogen factory, and JUSHI Fiberglass Factory.
