Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for the Palestinian cause and efforts for a just solution safeguarding the right of Palestinians to an independent state in accordance with international law, the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said on Tuesday.
President Sisi also voiced Egypt’s support for Palestine’s current diplomatic moves regionally and internationally for the resumption of peace negotiations.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting yesterday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Abbas expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s sincere efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and empowering the Palestinian people to face the different challenges to their issue.
The meeting also reviewed efforts by Egypt for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Discussions also focused on the latest developments in inter-Palestinian reconciliation and ways to revive the peace process in the Middle East, the spokesman said.
