CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT) and Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA).

Under the MoU, the two sides will boost cooperation in the fields of port development, road construction, and the establishment of a logistics area, as well as new and renewable energy stations in Djibouti.

The MoU was signed by HCMLT chairman Amr Moustafa and DPFZA chairman Aboubaker Omar Hadi, in the presence of Ambassador of Djibouti in Cairo Ahmed Ali Berri and Deputy Transport Minister Nihad Shaheen.

Giving a word on the occasion, the minister said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to provide all aspects of cooperation to Djibouti in implementing various projects.

He expressed the readiness of the Egyptian companies, which carried out major infrastructure projects in Egypt in various fields, including the transportation sector and many large projects in Arab and African countries, to implement projects in Djibouti.

For his part, DPFZA chairman Aboubaker Omar Hadi lauded Egypt’s successful experiment in implementing infrastructure projects in all areas of land, rail and maritime transport over the past few years.

He expressed his happiness at visiting a number of these projects (Sokhna Port – Alexandria Port – 6th Of October dry port), a matter that reflected the great development in Egypt in the infrastructure and transportation domains.
