The foreign ministers of Egypt and Spain met Wednesday to discuss business relations and how to encourage Spanish companies to pump more investments into the Egyptian market.
Emerging from the meeting, Badr Abdelatty of Egypt told a press conference that his talks with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares Bueno took up deep economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries.
He hailed as “strong” and “historical” the relationship between Cairo and Madrid – one that is based on common interests and mutual respect.
Abdelatty voiced appreciation for Spanish firms operating in Egypt and their contribution to the development process, especially in the fields of transport, railways, drugs, agriculture and industrialization.
“We agreed on the importance of prompting those companies and other Spanish companies to pump more investments into the Egyptian economy, taking into account the favorable investment environment in the country,” Abdelatty told reporters.
