Navy commander meets with senior UK, French military officials

Commander of the Navy Ashraf Atwa had a meeting on Wednesday with British Chief of Defense Staff for the Middle East and Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, and Gen Gael Diaz de Tuesta, Director for International Development of the Directorate General for Armaments (DGA) in France, who were visiting the naval command headquarters in Alexandria.

This falls within the framework of the Armed Forces’ keenness on enhancing military cooperation with friendly and sisterly countries to promote regional security and stability.

The talks tackled a number of issues of mutual concern in light of coordinating efforts and military cooperation as well as exchanging expertise between the Egyptian navy and other friendly countries.

During the visit, they inspected a number of naval units to stand on up-to-date mechanisms of training and armament of the Egyptian navy in the past period.
