President urges use of latest tech in energy transmission
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for the intensification of works to finalise renewable energy projects in order to add new capabilities to the country’s electricity network.
The President’s directives to this effect came during a meeting he called on Monday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Essmat, and Acting Head of the Administrative Control Authority Amr Adel Hosny.
The was called to follow up on the progress of government action especially including the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the sustainability and stability of electricity supply across the country, Presidency spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, President Sisi gave directives for accelerating the implementation of ongoing renewable energy projects, aiming to enhance the electricity grid’s capacity.
The President also called for the utilisation of the up-to-date techniques in upgrading the grid, thereby ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal loss in energy storing and transmission, spokesman Fahmy said. Discussions during the meeting also covered the integrated system of policies and measures being implemented to reduce electricity waste, including constitutional and legal ways to confront electricity feed theft, the Presidency spokesman said. Such policies and measures, he added, are meant to protect public finance and the rights of citizens as well as to ensure the stability and continuity electricity supply nationwide.
