Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad asserted Egypt made great strides in establishing a strong infrastructure for solid waste management.
Egypt developed an integrated system
for waste recycling nationwide in accordance with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in this regard, she added while visiting the headquarters of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) on Saturday.
EEG is a professional working group devoted to protecting the environment through the means of education, action programs and community involvement.
According to a press release by the Environment Ministry, the minister’s visit aims to review ways of promoting joint cooperation with the Group in implementing the medical and municipal waste management system in Egypt, in addition to turning the wastes into energy.
Fouad said her visit reflects the keenness of the Egyptian state to learn more about the best practices to fulfill the integrated system for waste management in the country.
The trip is also aiming to encourage investment in all phases of the system, covering collecting, transporting and recycling all wastes, according to her.
She commended fruitful cooperation with the UAE’s Group over the past years in carrying out a number of projects in Egypt.
