Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that the continued war in the Gaza Strip would drag the region into a dangerous labyrinthine of instability.
He underlined the importance of rallying up efforts to utilize the opportunity of ongoing negotiations in order to reach a deal to stop bloodshed and avoid escalation.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
Sisi held the international community responsible for exercising pressure for deescalation and addressing the root causes of the conflict by establishing an independent Palestinian state under the two-state solution.
The French foreign minister agreed on Sisi’s point of view, stressing his country’s full support to the ongoing efforts in order to end the current regional tension.
The French minister forwarded greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron to President Sisi, noting that Macron entitled him to embark on a regional tour to contribute to easing tension and reaching a truce, the Presidency spokesman said.
He said his tour ends in Egypt to post President Sisi on the outcome of the French efforts in this regard.
Séjourné lauded the pivotal role played by Egypt in its mediation efforts with Qatar and the US in order to reach a deal on ceasing fire deal in the Gaza Strip and exchanging hostages.
The meeting underscored the Egyptian-French strategic ties and the importance of bolstering bilateral cooperation in various domains for the best interests of both peoples.
