CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk ordered to accelerate the implementation of a fresh system for coding and laser marking of gold jewelry and precious metals.
Touring the Assay and Weights Authority, the minister said such a measure ensures the governance of the laser marking and coding system for precious metals.
Farouk emphasized the importance of connecting the authority’s branches nationwide through a comprehensive electronic system.
He said that the system would contribute to tightening control over markets for precious metals and valuable gemstones by curbing illegal and fraud practices, as well as enhancing the reliability of Egyptian precious metal jewelry, boosting its competitiveness in global markets.
