RAMALLAH – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the children of Gaza are going through unspeakable atrocities.
They are living in trauma and shock due to 300 days of war, displacement, loss, and pain, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said in a post on X platform.
Lazzarini said: “Today we launched the Return to Learning program through activities that provide the children of Gaza with refuge from the horrors they continue to endure.”
Describing the situation of Gaza’s children, the UNRWA Commissioner-General added: “They have witnessed what no child should have witnessed, and they deserve safety.”
Through sports, arts, drama, games and creating a space to meet friends and make new friends, “UNRWA teachers provide the children of Gaza with a ray of light in the darkness,” he said.
Lazzarini described UNRWA’s move to launch the Back to Education program in Gaza as “a small contribution to help children reconnect with their stolen childhood.”
Lazzarini also renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire for the children of Gaza in particular, and for all children in the region in general.
Israel continues its aggression, ignoring the resolutions of the UN Security Council to cease it immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
